Frequently asked questions

How to work with ice?

I bought a bag of ice, what about it?

Each time you buy ice, before you open the bag, throw it lightly against a hard mat to separate the cubes. Don’t spare the force on the splinter. This will make your ice feel like it just left us. The ideal storage is in the freezer so that you can bang it again. The best position for a closed bag is “lying down”.

How much ice do I need for an event of 20 people?

Many factors influence ice consumption – the composition of the drinks menu (e.g. Mojitos in Europe use chipped ice), the duration of the event, the temperature of the venue and the way ice is stored and used (for example, for cooling). In general, we recommend to count on approximately 0.5-1 kg per person. Better to have more ice than to have to deal with running out later. Because you can’t do it without ice.

I need to fill a 150 litre tub with ice, how much will I need?

The volume of ice cubes and their weight are not the same as for water, where 1 l = 1 kg. In the case of cubed ice, the ratio is about double due to the gaps between the cubes. So 1kg of ice cubes = 2 litres, 1kg of ice chips = 1.7 litres.

I forgot to refrigerate the champagne, how do I chill it quickly?

Just two minutes and you’re chilled. All you need is ice, salt and water. Put ice (cubes or chips, whatever you have on hand) in a container, pour in water and add salt (about 1 kg of salt per 3 litres of water). Add the champagne to the mixture and within 5 minutes you have it ready to serve.

I forgot to buy ice chips, how can they be made from ice cubes?

If you don’t have a professional ice grinder, a plastic bag, a cloth and a meat mallet will help. Place the ice cubes in a bag, wrap in a tea towel and crush the ice with a meat mallet.

Why is PartyLED better quality than the ice from my maker?

Our ice is not only made from high quality filtered drinking water in compliance with all hygiene requirements, but is also frozen to -18°C. As a result, it cools the drink more and melts less, thus not “contaminating” the drink with water as much as ice used directly from the machine.

Transport

In Prague, we normally deliver within 6 hours of ordering. If you need the ice faster, you need to make an order by phone and arrange express delivery for an additional fee according to the current price list.

In the regions, the route is driven 1-2 times a week. It is not possible to set a time when the driver will reach you. The race will therefore take place between 8:00 and 20:00. Of course, we are able to tell you the approximate time on the day of the shipment so that you don’t have to wait for us all day.
